Indutex presents first (and only) Certified Class 3 Ensemble

Indutex S.p.A, a global leader in protective garments, announced in June 2007 that it received certification for its JetGuardPLUS Class 3 Ensemble under the NFPA 1994 (2007 Edition) standards for "Protective Ensembles for First Responders to CBRN Terrorism Incidents, Class 3". The new ensemble is a re-engineered version of the NFPA 1994 (2001 Edition) certified JetGuardPLUS Class 3 ensemble, which has proven extremely popular in the market worldwide in a variety of applications. This ensemble, made from Indutex's patented Tessaform material, is currently used in pharmaceutical, chemical and other industries, as well as gaining significant momentum in the market for First Responders and military applications.
“The new standards set the bar very high for garments used by first responders in the face of chemical, biological and radiological threats,” said George Gianforcaro, President of IndutexUSA, the North American affiliate of Indutex S.p.A. “We were very pleased that Indutex is the first, and only, company to be able to meet this challenge.” NFPA spent five years developing the new standards to meet the needs of law enforcement and emergency personnel in the wake of new threats in the post-9/11 world. |

Information on the new NFPA 1994 standards (From the NFPA website, nfpa.org) NFPA 1994, Standard on Protective Ensembles for First Responders to CBRN Terrorism Incidents (2007 Edition) Based on work begun in 1998, this standard specifies the minimum requirements for the design, performance, testing, and certification of protective ensembles for fire and emergency services personnel operating at domestic terrorism incidents involving dual-use industrial chemicals, chemical terrorism agents, or biological terrorism agents. The intent is that the ensembles would be available in quantity, easily donned and used, and designed for single exposure use. The first edition of NFPA 1994 was issued in 2001. The Indutex Air Fed Suit is a non-emergency Type 3 / Level B gas-tight chemical protective suit of one-piece construction designed for long duration usage in harmful atmospheres.
The suit is designed for use with breathable air supplied from an external compressed air source providing positive pressure. The quality of air flowing into the garment must conform to the European standard. These garments are certified to Nuclear Protection (EN 465 or EN 466), Biological Protection (EN 14126), and Chemical Protection (EN 1073-1) Standards. All Indutex suits are CE marked to the latest European standard for gas tight clothing, EN 943-1:2002 and EN 1073-1:1997, and are extensively used by industries throughout the world. Product Information: - An air system completely contained within the garment that provides breathing and cooling air to the user together with an audible warning device (a whistle) designed to activate if the airflow into the suit drops below the minimum level of 300 liters/minute (10.6 CFM).
- The belt system diverts the air to a pocket in the front of the garment. This pocket disperses the air throughout the garment. This helps to maintain a comfortable ambient temperature within the garment and prevents the user from suffering early heat exhaustion.
- A clear flexible visor permits undistorted vision. This strong visor has the mechanical strength required to conform to the EN Standards.
- Adjustable internal support belt enabling users of varying sizes to comfortably wear the suit.
- Sufficient exhalation valves located in the back of the suit are fitted to ensure proper pressure change within the suit.
- Taped seams for extra protection against the European Jet and Spray Tests.
- Finger loops are attached to each sleeve to ensure that proper interface between the glove and the garment. This will insure that personal protection will not be compromised when extending user’s arm.
- Copper strips on bottom of the soles help keep the antistatic properties in tact.
- Indutex air fed suits can be manufactured with almost any Indutex material. (the white Puntiform® material, the gray Tessaform® material, or the yellow Duoform® material.)
- Belt unit and air hoses sold separately
Important Information: Each suit requires continuous flow of air between 300 l/m (10.6 CFM) and 800 l/m (28.3 CFM). It is important that the compressed air source is of sufficient size to deliver the correct airflow to the suit.
